I Am Worried
I am 14 years old and I will be starting high school next month. I am worried about high school because I hear that new freshmen get picked on a lot. I hope all the horror stories I've heard aren't true.

I'll also add, your worries now are teaching you an important life lesson: that you should not accept people being bullied, taken advantage of, or treated differently by the system based on a characteristic over which they have no control.

Some pick on freshmen. I never did, because even as a senior, being a freshman seemed so recent. I couldn't pick on people who I was not that long ago. You'll be okay with the right people. I wish you the best!

It happens, although it didn't happen to me, I kept to myself and was pretty much left alone. That and I was new to town when I started high school. Good luck!

I obviously can't speak for every high school, but in mine, we never had anything like that. Sure, there was some friendly rivalry during spirit week, when the classes were actively competing, but I don't think I ever saw anyone getting picked on just because they were a freshman.
