I Love the Confederate Flag

So what do you really know? My guess is a lot of Yankee revisionist nonsense.

Well there aren't as many left of us as rode out at the start. But we will never truly surrender. I don't care if they put me in a box when they lay me down just lay me down in Southern ground (SC-SCV)

This is laughable - and not in a good way. You have one guy early in the video claiming the Civil War was not about slavery and then there are a series of flimsy excuses to feebly defend the South as not interested in slavery and racism in an attempt to pretend slavery and racism wasn't part of the South's "agenda." At best this is a rationalization piece to pacify people with guilty consciences. At worst, it's an attempt to pervert factual history by grown adults who like playing army.

The bottom line is the Confederate flag is a flag of losers... you do know the South lost the war and that the military leaders of the South did surrender and they each (each and everyone of them) asked to be reinstated as citizens under the true American flag? Just exactly what are you so proud of...?
TheProphet · M
@MarkPaul The Northern War of Aggression wasn't about slavery, it was about States Rights. There was nothing then or now in the Constitution that prohibits Secession from the Union. States joined the Union freely and can leave the same way. While the South may have lost the war, they weren't traitors and our values and beliefs are still valid. Proud to be a Southerner and to have had an ancestor who fought under Stonewall Jackson.

@TheProphet I'm "proud" to be a Southerner (even though it's all subject to birth), an American, and a human too, but that's besides the point. The idea that slavery had NOTHING to do with causing the Civil War is as insane as claiming that trump is a successful businessman and devout truth-telling Christian. You see, humans often make things up to make themselves feel better about their bad behavior and inappropriate thoughts.

In any case, the South engaged in traitorous acts and the values advanced by the South of Civil War times are no longer valid, do not represent the values of the USA, and contradict the ideals that our country (North, South, East, and West) is founded on. And, no amount of Southern pride or rationalization-history can or should alter those facts.
TheProphet · M
@MarkPaul There was no treason. Leaving the Union was not prohibited.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@TheProphet Then why was the Confederate army offered clemency by General Grant upon their surrender? After Lincoln was assassinated, why did Andrew Johnson offer a "full pardon for treason of former Confederates" that many believe Lincoln would have done as well if he had lived? Why would the former Confederates accept the "full pardon" if they believed they did not commit treason? Why are you trying to defend behavior that they were no longer interested in defending in their own names, on their own behalves?
TheProphet · M
@MarkPaul What the Union offered was as winners. They called the South traitors. Doesn't make it true.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@TheProphet But YOUR confederate heroes accepted their fate (as traitors) and happily re-entered the United States of America albeit under Reconstruction. But, still they were happy to be back home (in the USA). They ACCEPTED it. Why can't you after all this time? What are you REALLY trying to hold on to? What exactly are you attempting to glorify?
TheProphet · M
@MarkPaul They had no choice but to submit to the injustice. I'm holding on to our Southern values and beliefs. I still believe in States Rights and a much smaller limited Federal Government. I still fly my flag proudly.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@TheProphet Just so you know (because it sounds like you might not) you fly it as an American citizen, just like our Confederate ancestors were interested in becoming after renouncing it. Stop disrespecting our ancestors by second-guessing their decision to return to their true home. Thank God the confederacy is dead and God Bless the United States of America!
TheProphet · M
@MarkPaul I don't thank God that the Confederacy is no more. It would have been a great country. They only said what they had to say to be released. None of them were sincere I'm sure.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@TheProphet Well, now you're just stuck in your own fantasy. But, it's not a very flattering endorsement if they were willing to sacrifice their ideals, beliefs, and honor as kicking and screaming cry-babies if that's what they did. Insincerity is hardly something to be proud about.

Based on historical fact though, as they reentered American life, it seems clear your fantasy fades and is replaced by a reality that suggests they were happy to reclaim their American lives for themselves, their children, and us as their future generations. I cherish them for their sincerity in choosing to return as Americans.
