Nuclear waste was being stored on the moon and it somehow exploded and pushed the moon away from Earth. The science for such an idea doesn’t hold up. But then again many of the story lines made very little sense so…

@stratosranger i read that Bezos wants to move all heavy industry to the moon and to the space between the earth and the moon. in the future maybe there will be a real catastrophe like that.
