How do you get over post traumatic stress disorder

Its been over two years already.....I've found understanding and forgiveness, but I still find myself dwelling on the past...with many triggers!

It's been 23 years and I still have the nightmare ... you learn to be mentally tough , attack your fears .... and stay active.

Of course I have had psychiatric care and access baby time I want it , but being able to cope ... on my own ... is my goal

Well I hate to tell you this, but you don't.... just stay busy and find ways of coping

Anyone telling you to just toughen up and learn to cope is mislead in their advice.

There are several roads leading to resolution of PTSD, but they all involve professional help. A therapist can show you EMDR, which is indicated for some people but not others, Seeking Safety, a program created specifically for women and very trust-centered, CBT and talk therapy and other interventions.

PTSD is the reaction to a previous traumatic event or events. We can learn to let go of that with work and improve the quality of life. Don't put yourself through what you don't have to; find a good counselor and they can help you through. Good luck.

re-think the memory. take it as a great lesson in building your fortitude and strengths. People learn more from their most trying experiences.

First port of call is a psychiatrist.
They have the skills to define and come up with a way of helping you through such problems.
The other suggestion would be go see a Hypnotist.
They might not be able to get rid of the cause but could certainly come up with coping strategies.

I have PTSD and learning about the event that caused me to acquire it helped me tremendously. It's been ten years, and though I still have a few triggers, I've learned how to cope with them better.
