Are you taking benzo's? (Ativan, Xanax, valium, etc.)

These are actually far more addicting and harder to withdraw from than heroin or any of the other narcotic's.

I wouldn't compare the addiction to heroin. Because the chances to be exposed are lower and it depends on the dosage. And the mechanism of action is different.

Taking medications should be the last option of treatment. They change the brain dramatically and that should be the main concern.

Hello!
I am but from time to time. The doctor has flagged the risks and trusts me to be careful
@SW-User Hi hon, I have finally gotten off but it took close to a year, I only very seldom take one. Good to see you.

@Coyotedave611 Glad you've been able to stop taking the benzos. Good to see you too :)

I have an Rx, but I very rarely use it. It makes me sleepy and dopey, and I don't like that. But when I do need it, I *really* need it. (Maybe 3 times a year.)

@SmartKat zanax never made me sleepy. stomach would still be bothering me and I would have hot and cold flashes and racing heart and be wide awake even if I took a second one.

@Thegrouch Good job. Glad you were able to do this, so much better than my own over 20 years addiction.😱

I'm not sure that I'd put withdrawing on a hierarchy, but benzo's are a huge problem. Not to mention too many stories begin with, "My doctor gave them to me, so they must be okay."

Know what's still the hardest and most prevalent addiction to kick? Alcohol, but no one's giving that up.

zanax never made me zombie like. was still bouncing all over the place heart racing and shaking with anxiety even with the Xanax and fully awake and hyper.

I take ativan except I'm recovering from an extensive heel surgery and can't because of the morphine.

that is why anti depressants are better for chronic anxiety.
