Yeah, nobody chooses to be ill. How we deal with things defines us.

@ineedadrink Well-said...er, typed!

@ineedadrink Exactly!
SomeMichGuy 路 M
There is a silly cheery fatalism which results in nonsensical statements such as this...
Melpomene 路 22-25, F
@SomeMichGuy I'm sure there was bigger meaning behind this but what's the point of saying an encouraging phrase if you know nothing about it?
SomeMichGuy 路 M
@Melpomene I think this person grew up around ppl who have kneejerk, canned responses.
Melpomene 路 22-25, F
@SomeMichGuy Nope, it's just a general thing people like to say to sound wise or something. Context doesn't matter to them so lack of it isn't a problem...
[c=#359E00]that statement usually only applicable for education and career[/c]
Melpomene 路 22-25, F
@YukikoAmagi Unfortunately, I think we have to double think that. I choose a different path than expected but I didn't choose all the trouble I've got afterwards that at first had little to no relations to my education and now is affecting it greatly.
@Melpomene 馃槦 I understand kiddo.
Good point. Thank you. Diet and supplements might help with the stones...
but yeah its very cruel to talk that way. In the USA that mentality came in big after the Civil War, it served the rich only. Pursue wealth, forgetting all but self. It was not an accident and it wasn't our perception. It was preparation for the obscene gap in wealth and power we have now. Heavy sigh.
In the sixties and seventies the dime store self help movement hit hard and that kind of talk was soooo common, way too puking common. And a lot of it stuck around馃槖

@Whiterosesociety Thank you.
I'm not sure if it's cruel but most of these type of advice is unnecessary and it could hurt a person. The person saying this usually means no harm but doesn't think of what could it mean to the other person. To some, it might be inspirational but to others, it might be...not. I just wish people would mind their own business more...

Life is about finding meaning in the suffering- I suppose it could be interpreted his way
Melpomene 路 22-25, F
@SW-User I meant on people who generally say this kind of things. Of course I don't brag around irl about my personal problems but that's because I want to avoid this general-so-glad-I'm-a-helpful-stranger kind of advice. And it's not just me, there's plenty of people hiding their pain and problems just fine and when you say something that hits the string it...you can feel by their reaction they disagree...

And then "Dont take stress." Who the fuck wants stress?
xixgun 路 M
Well, we can choose a lot of things, unfortunately most of the time life and the universe have other plans.
