I Write As a Form of Therapy
I Can’t Drown My Demons
Because they know how to hold their breath
And I don't have the easy demons and they do not perish. They are insidious, cunning, devious, and cruel.
They have an ugly smile on their faces the entire time they are persecuting me. And they always lie and tell me everything will be alright.
That's why I have to shove their heads underwater and keep holding them down while I watch them struggle. Even then, they know I am not strong enough to hold them under until they die and they simply endure my rage.
However, my unfounded strength does compel them to disperse for a while until I am weak enough to be preyed upon again. A brief moment of sanity, if you will, from their torture.
