I Am Having a Very Bad Day

Third night with no sleep. Hurt my back reaching too high on a shelf. Desperately need pain pills. Took Tylenol and, for the first time in my life, it upset my stomach blowing it up like a balloon.

Headache, bad flare up of arthritis because it is starting to rain. Back screaming with pain but afraid to make sick stomach worse by taking pain meds.

Doctor appointment way too early today. Don't want to describe it but it did not go well at all. Convinced my HMO wants old ladies like me to crawl away and die.

It feels like every part of my body hurts. Thanks if you read this, feeling lonely, sick, tired, needed to vent.

You go for it girl. Maybe I can bring a smile to your face with a story of what happened to me when I hurt my back.

Christmas Day was busy and was shared with family. Little did I realize at the end of the celebrations that earlier in the day I had lifted something that had damaged my back. And there begins my story.
Since being married I have slept naked. I enjoy it because the hindrance of night attire getting twisted around the body is non existent. Having said that, I do not remember this as having being a problem in the past, but when I have had to sleep in pj's when friends or family stay overnight I have realized how uncomfortable night attire can be.
The Incident.
12.30am Boxing Day morning I needed a toilet call. On getting out of bed I felt an initial stab of back pain and gingerly made my way to the toilet. I somehow knew I was in trouble. I thought I would be more comfortable to sit on the toilet to pee rather than standing. How wrong I was. I sat and realized I was cast. I wanted to get back to my bed. I made the decision to stand up and promptly fell forward, flat on my face. My wife was by now well awake because of my cries of anguish and standing at my side as concerned as I was about the situation. There was just no way that she could help me get up from the floor and saw the need to call an ambulance.
There I was lying stark naked on the floor and unable to move and she saying you have got to put some boxers on, the ambulance is coming. She ended up somehow getting them on me. I remember vividly the excruciating pain when I had to lift my hips slightly to ease the boxers completely on.
Four minutes after calling the ambulance it had arrived.
One of the ambulance officers was a female and she took one look at me lying there and said, "You used to teach me." OMG it was Annette. I remembered her well even though some years had passed. Although because of the pain at the time I couldn't have cared less, but on reflection, thank God my wife insisted on getting the boxers on before the they arrived. Annette and her fellow ambulance officer helped me to my feet and back into bed.
I can imagine ambulance officers if they kept a log of the amusing, weird, or unusual incidents that this would be one of the incidents in Annette's log.

Boxing Day is the day after Christmas Day. I have no idea of its meaning or why we have it. @greenmountaingal @greenmountaingal

@Rusham Kind of like Groundhog Day in the US. The groundhog, somewhere in New England, comes out of his hole. I live in California.

I think Boxing Day is a British thing

UPDATE: I AM MUCH BETTER THANKS TO TIME AND A VERY GOOD NEW DOCTOR.

THANK YOU EVERYONE HERE FOR SUPPORTING ME.

I am very fortunate to have good people here willing to take the time to ease my physical and emotional pain. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It made a huge positive difference to me.

Ohh noooo. Overreaching can be a killer. Stretching just another inch to reach something and it's like a rubber band snapping, like you can hear a tendon breaking free.

My own overreach story was years ago, innocently reaching for a piece of paper on the back seat of the car while stopped at a stoplight. Just an inch further and ZAP! Like being struct by lightening. Ugggg ... it was much worse than the time I slipped on the icy driveway and saved myself from hitting the ground head first by extending my arm ... but shoving that arm into its shoulder socket.

Miraculously, I save myself from too much self pity by the "but for the grace of God go I" people in the doctors' waiting rooms. One was being pushed around in a wheelchair and both legs heavily bandaged. He couldn't push his own wheelchair because both his arms were in slings. I wanted to ask him what happened but his face was puffy and it looked like talking would be painful.

Geez, looking at him, I thought maybe I'd just go home and take a couple of aspirins. But I didn't, and just felt thankful that it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Get well soon!!!

That sounds awful, I’m sorry you’re going through that. I find it hard to get anyone to take Heath issues seriously, even doctors. Hope you feel better soon!

@greenmountaingal Finding a good doctor is like finding a good relationship, and about as difficult too. Most of them are like going on bad dates where you come home thinking, i can't believe what just happened.

@SW-User You made me laugh.🤣How true, good analogy.
