What is up with people apologizing for their ancestors?

Someone who was white recently apologized to me for what my ancestors had to endure during the US colonial period. They were very apologetic for it too, “I am SO sorry for how our ancestors treated your people” Wtf? 😂 That apology means nothing to me because it’s completely unnecessary. It’s been centuries since then! Apologizing for it when you yourself had nothing to do with it is just ridiculous at this point. Do they honestly believe they’re doing me or my ancestors any favors?

That's brainless white guilt. Our colleges, and even some HR departments are brainwashing college students and their employees to apologize and humiliate themselves and kneel. Did he/she kneel? Probably not...but there is a video of a BLM guy telling a white woman to kneel, and she actually does. Personally I would have sprayed him with my hairspray.

It's not that they really think you will be appeased. It's a Marxist humiliation technique often used to break down people's pride in themselves, and to make them feel as though their entire way of life needs to be taken down. Then when the communist takeover arrives, the white people will be largely defanged.

BLM and the Democrat socialists want to pay out reparations for the slavery of black people's ancestors, and a financial group recently did a study estimating that it would cost 6.2 quadrillion dollars...beggaring the entire country...and they haven't figured out yet how they will determine who are the real descendents of slaves and who arrived here from Jamaica last week.

The clueless folks haven't even one wisp of an idea how they will pay for Medicare for all illegal immigrants, pay out 6.2 quadrillion in reparations to black descendents of slaves, and pay for the quadrillions needed to replace fossil fuels.

They will have to print funny money, and the descendents of today's recipients of all these so called benefits will be the true slaves...and will hate their parents and their grandparents for placing them in such abject poverty.

It’s still nice, I’d say
One time a French woman apologized for the crimes the French had committed in Morocco against Moroccans in the early days of the 20th century
It was her way to condemn their actions knowing that it’s still upsetting and enraging to a lot of us
She was extending peace, in a way
I appreciated her

I see where you’re coming from
I wouldn’t do it myself but this means that the person is an empathetic and considerate individual
I can’t just dismiss them or be mean @PerchingDove
@SW-User I wasn’t mean. I told them I appreciated their support but an apology is really unnecessary and I feel it really is.

I wasn’t referring to your behavior specifically
Just how I usually treat people
If they’re nice and sincere no matter how irrelevant or “dumb” I still appreciate them
However if they’re sinister, rude & insensitive then screw their ass

Cuz some people are truly pathetic.

I can sympathize for what one's ancestors had to go through but yeah, I'm not going to apologize like I'm at fault for anything. That is ridiculous and anyone who hold others accountable for what their ancestors did is a fool.

That's cringe. I mean, that was out of your control and theirs, y'all weren't even born. Or your parents and their parents for that matter. Absolutely ridiculous.

@xRedx absolutely...has no direct cause as to how successful anyone is or isn’t today!

They are painting you as a victim class, which is offensive and insulting. It’s the lazy activist’s way of making themselves feel good and morally superior to apologize for long dead people and events, which means they don’t have to address real atrocities going on today, with people who actually need help.

It can be good to get rid of some lingering tension, I think. 🤔
Anyway, I wish more people would think about it like you. Christians still get accused for the crusades which happened centuries ago. 😐

Honestly, pathetic n patronizin, u dont wat apologies no, just respect and equality. We r all human.

Some people feel that an apology is probably the only thing within their power.

I don't know what your particular ancestry had to endure during the colonial period, the only two groups that were affected are Native Americans and African slaves. Both groups probably fared better during colonial times, than they did under the United States.
@Northwest I’m Native American

@PerchingDove Native Americans did suffer through the initial settlement, and before they became colonists. When the colonies stabilized and in Canada, there were no attempted to exterminate Native Americans. That happened under the United States rules, and really peaked post civil war.

I don’t want apologies I just want cash...

Thank you. I appreciate your perspective on this.
