Can anyone help???

We had “a” rat coming in our home for months now and no matter what I do or use it’s just not worked I’m NOT using poison at all.
So far I’ve use snap traps with loads of peanut butter because apparently they love it. It has set them off but I think that’s just with it walking by it maybe.
I’ve got a walk in box kinda trap and it’s not even set off at all this rat has ruined a lot of my kids clothes and ripped up loads of things.
It’s out every night I can hear it.
Boyfriend says he’s gonna cement the holes up... like what’s that gonna do.
Any ideas please ???

Instead cementing the holes (which.... let’s face it... if he hasn’t done it by now... your boyfriend isn’t going to do it.

There is “pest” great stuff. You just shoot it in the places and it expands.

Knowing this rat... it probably has 18 ways to get into your place. Your boyfriend isn’t going to cook up new concrete every time (if he hasn’t fixed this by now).

Do you own the place? Take pictures and call your landlord. Then call the housing authority. This isn’t right unless it’s your place.

@SW-User he keeps saying he’ll do it and hasn’t so yep your right lol.
Oh right I’ll have to look this up it has three places it can come in.
And no we don’t own the house we haven’t heard from landlord

@MiraRoss if you filed a complaint to the landlord and they have not responded. Consider talking to your local housing authority or health department. Get those complaints filed now.

@SW-User okay I’ll do that

Here's an easy build... there is a plethora of variations also.

@Shipwrecked yeah and do you think it strange it being alone?? Maybe it use to be someone pet maybe
Shipwrecked · 46-50, M
@MiraRoss It IS strange that it's alone... and a former pet is a possibility. Is it friendly?
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@Shipwrecked I have no clue it’s very jumpy so I wouldn’t know anytime I open a door I hear it scurry off
We constantly have mice and the only thing that works is electronic mouse traps. You bait the trap and the mice get electrocuted. I think it's the most humane way to go.

They make larger sizes for rats.

@splishsplash ah right didn’t know they did them. I’ll have to look into this
AntisocialTroll · 56-60, F
Rats love junk food, bait the trap with the kinda crap food teenagers love and you are more likely to catch your rat.
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@AntisocialTroll ah right okay I put left over stuff from dinner and stuff like that. I tried chocolate
Driver2 · M
Get rid of them at all cost. Once they settle in they won’t leave. They are like squatters except you cannot get them out.
Poison, whatever it takes . Get an exterminator in do mess with them.
They have taken over homes
Driver2 · M
@MiraRoss if your landlord won’t get an exterminator you get one and bill him or pay and take it off the rent
It’s that urgent
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@Driver2 I don’t do things like this my boyfriend does I’ve told him.
He’s in a weird way at the moment so I’m screwed
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@Driver2 don’t even know if he’s told landlord

@OldMan70 they don’t stay away from light area this one doesn’t still comes out at night if lights on
NoSugar · 22-25, F
let it into the kitchen.. maybe it will cook you something nice

MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@NoSugar doubt it, it’s the kitchen it’s got it’s holes in
redback · 51-55, M
Maybe you could get a cat.
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@redback I’ve asked boyfriend to ask him about it long time ago he said he says no
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
@MiraRoss technically rats are animals 😬 Ask your landlord why he allows rats if he doesn't allow cats.
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@assemblingaknob and cats don’t make loads of mess

Cementing the holes would probably stop the nuisance.

I used these type of traps that were effective for me.
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@ABCDEF7 I have a trap like this
olderguy2016 · 70-79, M
Your bf said the correct solution
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@olderguy2016 there are three holes and one goes from one end out the other the cement will have to be loads as it would need to go right across. And they will only make new holes
Semi Melt chocolate onto the snap traps ....it can't take off with the bait...but you'll probably hear it squeal .

We had rats....chocolate was the best lure. And melting it on made it a guarantee of catching them.
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@OogieBoogie ah right. Don’t have the snap traps anymore though
@OogieBoogie Isn't it amazing how much they love chocolate?! We had mice and they LOVED M&Ms.
