My headmistress used the cane. Ordinary teachers used the slipper in class. I got both loads of times.

I was punished with the 'school slipper' at Primary and Grammar School. At Primary School, the headmaster used an old leather slipper and you were bent over one knee. At Grammar School the PE Teacher would not tolerate any messing about, if you did, you were bending over for whacks with an old rubber soled plimsoll. That was worse than the whacks at Primary School.

Did any of them have to do with the rising hemlines you mention in anothr post?

I wish I could have had it from a "heartless" mistress. I had it from the male games teacher.

Did you get it again from your parents when you got home?
