I Have a Question

how long does it take to get rid of a toenail fungus? Im supposed to have a knee replacement and cant do it till it totally goes away, seeing my regular doctor for a perscription tomorrow. is this going to take a long time?

I had the same problem about 3 years ago. I tired everything I could find on the pharmacy shelf and nothing worked. The fluids you buy at the store won't penetrate the Nail and it won't reach the fungus.

You have to take a prescription medicine and I don't think it was very $$. I think I just had to pay the co-pay of $8 or so, it was not much. But I had to take the pills once a day and it cleared up in about 30 days but I had to continue taking the pills for about 90 days if I recall correctly. I have not had a problem since.

Perhaps it is the infection they are concerned about or perhaps the pills you will use to get rid of it. Maybe it has to be cleared from your system .

Good luck though.

you need to remember that fungus sits in my shoes and socks /things like that
and if you don't clean everything properly it will stay with you
even the tools you use to cut toenails and file them
need sterilising or throwing away after use
then buying the expensive treatment from the pharmacy is the way to go
the cheap things will make it linger
clean toroughly under the nail
scrape the stuff out
then apply the ointment
fungus won't clear up in a day

Hi. Toenail fungus is a tough one.
Check WebMD but the short answer is yes. There are no quick solutions that get down under the nail or to the root of the nail.
Nail removal to kill the fungus and then let the nail grow back naturally is not done. I have seen nails cut to remove the bulk of the fungus on a big toe which can be a thicker nail.
Let us know how it goes.

i really don't see the correlation between toe-nail fungus and knee operation … aren't you glad i'm not your doctor? 😏

Yes it will. The nail will have to totally regrow.
