I Believe Age Difference Doesn't Matter

It matters. If the age gap is too wide, you will have very little in common.

An example:
In my office there is a young woman who is 25 years younger than me. She is a lovely person, friendly and personable, quite attractive too.
The main reason why I wouldn't be comfortable having a relationship with her is that I can't think of any common influences we have. She has no memory of the sort of tv shows I watched growing up, the sort of music I listened to in my formative years, of seeing a particular movie at a cinema. Seeing abd hearing these things as reruns doesn't have the same emotional impact. And that's vefore we get to life expoeriences like marriage, divorce, having kids etc
She's a gorgeous young wonan, inside and out, and even putting aside my own insecurities ("she'd never be interested in a fat middle aged guy like me") I just have serious doubts tbat we'd be able to relate to each other.

People always say age doesn't matter until they see their kid with someone 30 years older than them.

It really depends on what sort if relationship you have (and I mean that in tbe broadest possible sense).
If it's just a casual friendship, or just sex, age doesn't matter.
If it's something deeper there is some advantage to having less of an age gap because you will have similar life experiences/milestones. Having said that, though, you can ve tge same age as so.eone and gave nothing in common with them....

There has to be some commonality of interests and maturity levels ...

It is not always possible, but I take care to try to select ladies who indicate from their joined groups, or otherwise say, that age does not matter, or that they like older men. It is dismaying to find that some who join such groups are aggressively ageist.

If the couple are both consenting adults, age becomes trivial to be honest.
