I read through some of the comments on this post and I would just like to say this person has a right to her opinion. I think this its a tough call especially when rape is involved, some women have carried and raised a child from rape some carried and given up for adoption, some opted for abortion. I think it is up to the individual woman.

I do also think attacking someone who has a differen opinion than yours is wrong. We all are individuals, with different ideas, feelings, opinions, etc. I don't see why we can't just agree to disagree.

Yes. Choice.

If you were raped and ended up pregnant, would you still be against abortion? I am not trying to make arguments but that is my only exception for getting an abortion.

I am saying the baby deserves that chance, whether they are given it or not.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Mindy1976: I don't think that baby would have a fair chance at life from the start...being the product of rape and all. That isn't a "normal" "family" situation
fluffandnonsense · 31-35, F
@iamnikki: in my situation it was my ex that raped me, I was stuck in an abusive situation and he was trying to get me pregnant again to trap me. @Mindy1976: yes, a child has a right to life, but so do I. I would not have been able to escape his clutches had I been impregnated by him. I'd have probably killed myself and then my surviving child would have had no mother and a potentially abusive father.

When I was 32 I had cancer of the cervix and one ovary. I was pregnant when they diagnosed me. I had three half grown kids and a two year old. I was given a choice. Have a hysterectomy now, or wait until the baby is born. My chances of survival were much higher if I had the surgery immediately. If I didn't, there was a chance the cancer would spread and I might die before the baby was born or soon after, or I might have a better than even chance of survival. I opted to have the surgery immediately. That was 41 years ago. I've never regretted that decision. I do still mourn the baby I lost due to a miscarriage.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, but you made the right decision for your children.
Mindy1976 · 46-50, F
I am terribly sorry that you were in that situation. Of course, you were thinking of your children being left motherless as anyone would. I can't imagine making such a huge decision but, as I know you know, that doesn't take away from the fact that your baby still deserved a life. I would not call this an abortion but a necessary procedure which resulted in your baby dying. Although you knew they would not survive, there seemed to be a fair chance he/she would not make it as result of your death before they were born. This isn't the same as directly killing a baby who has a high chance of making it to birth.

Then YOU pick up the tab. Birth THRU college. For each and every kid FORCED on the rest of the world.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Mindy1976: I think choosing to bring a child into the world knowing they wont have a "normal" life is unfair. But anyway, thanks for the civilized disagreement. ☺
Mindy1976 · 46-50, F
@iamnikki: Anytime :)
@iamnikki But isn't that like appointing ourselves God? Who are we to judge the value of that life vrs. non-being?
fluffandnonsense · 31-35, F
Don't be surprised if you get some backlash for this
