I Have A Disabled Family Member

my oldest daughter suffers from a lot of health problems due to things that happened with her birth parents. but it has caused her to be very small for her age and she is very weak.she struggles doing simple things including using bathing her self and even using a knife and fork she struggles with. because of it she also has to wear nappies all the time. it is heart breaking but watching her try to do things on her own and telling me off for trying to help her is adorable.

You do lots for her. Do tjose things feel or get awkward for you?

No not in the slightest. Lucky she has the mentality of a 6 year old. So to her it's not a big deal. And I have bathed her since I adopted her

@karenof2: I feel amazed talking to you. Between you and your daughter i feel like i am reading a female version of my life.

Your daughter is lucky to have you.

How long until you think she can manage things herself?
karenof4 · 36-40, F
@Gumba1000: I honestly don't know

@karenof2: Children are a lifetime committment whether they are disabled or not. Good parents like you will do it all if necessary.

What will you do if your younger daughter surpasses the older?
karenof4 · 36-40, F
@Gumba1000: what do you mean by surpasses?
Gumba1000 · M
@karenof2: If your 12yo gets overtaken mentally and or physically by your younger child.
karenof4 · 36-40, F
I wouldn't change how I treat them

@karenof2: I think I sort of meant would you make sure your younger daughter grew up as the big sister if necessary?
karenof4 · 36-40, F
@Gumba1000: no i would try to keep it as their relationship the same
Gumba1000 · M
@karenof2: That might get hard :(
karenof4 · 36-40, F
@Gumba1000: it would still be worth the try

@karenof2: Of course!
