I Am Lonely

I miss my wife. Cancer took her from me a couple years ago. The loneliness is crippling at times. I miss having someone to talk to, someone to kiss after I get home from work. There's a lot I miss. What hurts the most is knowing how much life I have ahead of me, and she won't be here for any of it.

It is really awful to lose someone you loved so much. It just sucks. Don't dwell on the possible length of your life without her. Any one of us, no matter how young, could get hit by a bus tomorrow. I recommend, instead, staying very busy. If you are worn out, physically, you can just drop into bed and sleep and you won't be torturing yourself.

@4meAndyou I hope that day is soon.

@ChickenNugget They make a non-addictive over the counter sleep aid, called Z-Quil, and it's just to help you sleep. It usually makes you sleep a little deeper than REM, so it might help with the dreams. Exhaustion without a restful sleep will delay your own healing process, and might even affect your immune system.

@4meAndyou I may try that. Thank you!

I'm truly sorry for your loss. There will always be some difficult phases in life that we have to go through, and this one is one of the hardest ones. I wish I could feel the pain of those who lost someone that close to them, but I may not have enough strength to endure it. It is too much for me to bear. But I know that at some point in my life, it will eventually catch me.

I hope time will heal your wound, and you will get through the darkest phase of your life eventually. She will always be in your heart and your memory.

Stay strong.

@SW-User Thank you! That was a beautiful response.
Sounds like you're being a great Dad though (saw your other post)

Do you feel like you're still living life as best you can, or is the grief preventing that?
ChickenNugget · 31-35, M
@BeefySenpie I feel like grief is preventing it to an extent.
@ChickenNugget Maybe talking to a professional would be helpful, though I see you work in mental health so you probably already know this

right there with ya.

i lost mine last may to cancer.

it doesn't feel like anything has gotten better, passed or even used to.

as angry if not angrier than ever. :(
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
@ChickenNugget understood, don't let anyone give you those lectures about moving on, it's not about you or stupid advice.

take your time, need help, confide if you can but don't force a thing it just makes things harder.

oh and it's ok to talk to her, no matter who claims what.

the pain won't go away, that's normal.

if she's got a legacy, help keep that alive, work helps. it's no cure it's just if you can contribute to engage what she was about sure makes ya feel good even for microbes of moments.
ChickenNugget · 31-35, M
@sighmeupforthat I still talk to her. I like to think she's listening.

I am so sorry. I wish you strength and endurance as you go through these hard times. May you be comforted by the good memories you have of her.
ChickenNugget · 31-35, M
@greenmountaingal Thank you!
Carissimi · 70-79, F
I am so sorry. I pray for the strength to bear your sorrow, and for the love of others to hold you up.
ChickenNugget · 31-35, M
@Carissimi I appreciate that. I could use some strength.
JayneA · 36-40, F
That is so sad yet so romantic that you still care about her so much. She must have been a very special person
ChickenNugget · 31-35, M
@JayneA She was wonderful. If I were to start dating, it would feel like I'm cheating on her. She would want me to date again, as she told me this, but it's hard.

My mom passed away when she was 38, how you feel must be much like it was for my father. Cancer sucks.
ChickenNugget · 31-35, M
@SW-User It sure does. I hope it gets better. I'm sorry you went through that as well.
xixgun · M
Condolences but you're wrong. She'll always be with you, so long as you remember her
StarLily · 51-55, F

imo21169 · 41-45, F
No it was her time...I know you miss her but life does go on
ChickenNugget · 31-35, M
@imo21169 Do you know how inconsiderate that comes across?
imo21169 · 41-45, F
@ChickenNugget but it's the truth
ChickenNugget · 31-35, M
@imo21169 Of all the crap posted on this site, this was the one you decided to be an asshole about. My wife is dead. I don't need your "life goes on" and "it was her time" bullshit.
