I took my husband to see "Down with Love" in the theater in 2004. He hasn't stepped in a theater since then.

@MrsCJV I'll make a note to miss that one.

The Clayburgh movie was too pat for me, full of cliches. Also she was too gorgeous to be believable in that role. Women like that can get anyone they want. But some films don't seem to understand anything about real life.

@greenmountaingal I will research that point and get back to you.

@greenmountaingal The real movie is no one knows what they are doing when they marry and when things settle down they end up realizing that marriage is about anything but love. They pay heartily for this knowledge, too many drown doing it.

@Platoscave Thanks! I appreciate that. I would love to see it again, and to recommend it on here. Just need the name of the made for TV movie.

Love Story...E.T.

@greenmountaingal Exactly. Anything to watch was better than whatever the plan to teach was.

@SaxonAZ "Same Time Next Year" is a lovely film. Highly recommended. Cameo flick but really nice....
SaxonAZ · 51-55, M
@Platoscave It wasn't bad.

I’ve never heard of them or their movies

@greenmountaingal One of my all time favorite films...HARRY AND TONTO. Go see it and smile!

@Platoscave Isn't Art Carney in that? He is wonderful in anything!

My favorite movie with an elderly hero stars Art Carney:

The Late Show
Platoscave · F
@greenmountaingal I will go look for that one ;=)
He is awesome!

Anything starring Cheech & Chong.
I don't know those, but if you want an example of the destruction political correctness can exact on a film, I vote Avatar
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP Amazingly enough, I haven't seen Avatar. Everyone was raving about it, and what they said made it sound really stupid. I remember I cancelled at the last minute, lost my nerve, and didn't go see it.
@greenmountaingal and I love a lot of Cameron's work too. Aliens is my favourite
