My last childhood friend is going to be moving away across the country.

It's a bit painful. Sure they will keep in contact for awhile, but as these things go and have happened before they eventual fade into nothing more than memories. I'm tired of having those memories. I feel like the last record keeper left in a defunct archive.

You can make the effort yourself, perhaps not now, but later.

I lost contact with my childhood friends over forty years ago when we moved to other towns for work. Now I and my two best friends from school are back in contact even though we only meet about once a year and live each in a different country.

Aw that’s sad and it happens to most of us. The memories are good...of better times. I’ve moved on from all my childhood friends, but those memories always being a smile to me on a bad day.

@BetweenKittensandRiots My family moved quite a bit up and and down the east coast when I was younger, but ended up back here. I guess I was lucky to keep the connections I had. To some degree I knew how you felt since I had no idea at those times that I would end up back where I started.
