How awkward is it for a job post to ask YOU to include YOUR salary requirement for the job?

Heading over to google, don't know how to put this in a cover letter.

That happened to me last week.
Their salary range was $21 - $29 hour.
At the interview they asked me what hourly rate I would like.
I said I would be happy with $25 hour.
I got the job
