Would someone insulting you, calling you dumb and take you for granted be called emotional abuse? Just curious

I think it is a form of abuse. I have recently encountered some texting abuse by a family member. She can go to hell and enjoy her misery of being cut off for good. I recommend you cut the other person off too. And avoid the toxicity.
