I Am a Victim of Emotional Abuse

So many people believe that abuse in a marriage is one sided. Just like the cheater is responsible for the death of a marriage. It is far from the truth. Abuse doesn't know gender or race. I am a man and I have faced emotional abuse for the past 16 years until I finally took up the courage to leave.

Women actually do physically abuse men, you just don't hear about it as often because men hide the fact that they are getting beat up by a woman....they are u shamed and embarrassed along with all the other emotions that come from being abused...

It's said that it's hard for a woman to admit to being abused. I think it's much harder for a man and men don't have the support network either.
@Caroline259: My Counselor said that in cases of abuse it's never just one or the other doing it. Abuse is usually done by both individuals in a marriage. A man may physically abuse a woman but the woman will verbally abuse him back.

@AmazingPoet: I agree the violence is mutual in the majority of cases, about 80% I think, but not all. The other 20% of cases involve one partner attacking the other, verbally or physically, and the woman is just as likely to physically attack as the man is.
