I Am a Victim of Emotional Abuse

So many people believe that abuse in a marriage is one sided. Just like the cheater is responsible for the death of a marriage. It is far from the truth. Abuse doesn't know gender or race. I am a man and I have faced emotional abuse for the past 16 years until I finally took up the courage to leave.

Yes, emotional abuse is NOT always men towards women...women can attack verbally so viciously to the point where it cuts deep into the thoughts and feelings of a man, leaving a scar that remains for all of his life, forever changing his course in life and how he views himself and others around him...

Women can attack physically too. My husband was abused by his first wife, often needing hospital treatment for his injuries.

I think it's worse for men. It's harder for them to admit being abused and almost immposible to report it. Altahough it was obvious he was the victim of a crime, as soon as the police were told his wife was the assailant, they didn't want to know.

It's easy for us to say just leave. It's not so easy for the victims to take that advice. :(
