Tried to get funding for low cost housing

@DeluxedEdition Australia. Very little interest from Governments, Federal and State, to do anything about the chronic shortage of affordable housing

@Gusman HUD in america is free housing for individuals who meet a certain income requirement. it is referred to as the "projects" in slang term it has a negative stigma attached to it, but that is not the reality. I was wondering did you have some sort of thing like that there?

@DeluxedEdition Nothing like that here. We have State Housing rented at 25% of ones income, though there are not enough of these place.
Australia wide? About 100,000 houses shortfall.

@Gusman they stopped building housings commission places. And the wait list is like 10 years 😑

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout That said, before I got this job, I was unemployed for more than 2 years.
I applied for state housing and within 5 months was offered a place.
Whilst waiting, I found this job, so became ineligible because my income was too high.

@Gusman why are houses so expensive there? why don't people build new houses?

@DeluxedEdition Houses are expensive because the majority are sold by Auction.
Pushing up the prices. Real Estates inflate the prices for higher commissions.
Greed plays a role in what owners ask.
Many factors. Land is very expensive.
Too many people here now
The list goes on.....
