Bible stories were for a couple of centuries shared among people in private households, in services held by women, and kept secret from the state, which was trying to control them. It still plays that role in authoritarian countries around the globe. In Korea, it was a major force in freeing the people from military dictatorship.

As for the role in paedophilia, I gather the BBC played a similar role to the organized church. You are against public broadcasting, I hope. And don't get me started on organized sports and the education system, both of which have their fair share.

You are deflecting here. You were keen to point out what you considered to be the positive aspects of religion 'cherry picking' to use your own term so I have pointed out the other side of the equation.

The BBC has never been accused of running a system geared to systematic child abuse, as has the Catholic church. This discussion was never about the BBC, sports, or education.

Philosophy isn't nonsense to me. Why? Is it to you? I don't see what it has to do with religion or belief in god anyway.

@fazer1k The Greek philosophers were paedophiles. And the BBC did systematically protect paedophiles, as did numerous high profile amateur sports programs.
