I Hate the World We Live In

But the problem is that darkness spreads and multiplies just as readily as light does. And there's a hell of a lot more of it than there are matches to light in the darkness. There are a lot more bad people spreading darkness than there are good people lighting matches, and the middle-ground decent masses are so blind to the darkness and apathetic to the light that they end up helping and serving it more often than they help the people trying to do the right thing.

It could be because throughout history more people in power have had darkness in them and therefore shaped the landscape. Power breeds corruption or so they say.

Very true - we all have that choice, even if most people choose to be sheep.

@BlueDiver: I get that sheep is a very bad thing but it sounds so condescending coming from you. Sorry I don't mean to offend I just thought I point it out.

Hell, I won't lie to you or to myself - I do feel condensation toward people who don't think for themselves. I think that it's a low and ugly way to be, and I'm grateful that, for better or for worse, my natural instinct is to think for myself. I think that sheep are usually happier, and I honestly envy them too. I'd love to be happier, even if I hurt the world by doing it. But whether I like it or not, my eyes are too open for that to ever be my path again.

Large groups are by their very nature self serving and narcissistic, with responsibility so widely spread around that almost no one really feels any sense of responsibility for their own actions, because they can always pass the buck up, down, or sideways along the chain of command. And it's from these inevitably unethical, narcissistic, self-serving large groups that sheep get their marching orders. And then they just mindlessly follow along and add to all the problems in the world.

More than darkness, what I see around me is ignorance. And more often than not, proud ignorance or at least, not regretted ignorance. People who choose the comfort of their small circle and prefer not to know what's beyond, and why the world is the way it is.
Maybe it is darkness after all.

Very true. Maybe it is darkness after all, or maybe it's just the thing that lets darkness get away with everything that it gets away with.

Sounds as if you are going to face enlightenment. First we are brought down so to be lifted up.
BlueDiver · 36-40, M
Been there, done that, I even have the ticket stub.

@BlueDiver: It's not a one time shot.

Maybe you're right - I guess only time will tell.
