I Had Or Have To Wear A School Uniform

I don't really get why everyone hates having to wear a uniform to school. Its practical, smart and means you don't have to decided what to wear every day.
It also means that we're all wearing the same so there no pressure on parents to buy really expensive fashion items

It's nazi stuff. Life is about finding your own way, not being part of a group.

@hunkalove That's unfair - to Nazis.

dress codes vary by school district. look on tv shows and movies. enough districts allow tank tops that you see the boys in tank tops in many movies and tv shows about high school. 💪

Because the ties made me feel like I was constantly suffocating.

School uniforms are very expensive too because suppliers have to pay large bribes ("commission") to school to be appointed "official suppliers". Parents are then required to buy the overpriced uniform from the "official suppliers". The whole thing is a scam.
@Sharon - yeah I can see that, but in general I think a uniform makes sense

@KimberleyAnne I disagree. It stifles individuality and does nothing to improve educational standards. UK teachers waste far too much time checking students are wearing the right colour socks (yes, seriously!) instead of teaching. That's why standards are much higher in the rest of Europe where there aren't school uniforms.

i would have hated wearing school uniform. I liked wearing skin tight tank top and tight short shorts to school. showed my muscular build very nicely. 💪

@suzie1960 Every school has some form or manner of accreditation. Have you ever been to a school? Why are you so insistent on promoting your version of the truth anyway? Whether formal or informal, every school follow some norms or code about what is culturally acceptable dress. What is your problem?
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@MarkPaul That may be true in your jurisdiction but that's not the same as the whole world and it's certainly not true where I am. As I said, I have visited a school where trackboy's mode of attire would be acceptable.

Why are you so insistent that you know the policies of every school in the world when it's patently obvious you don't? What do you hope to achieve?

@rob19 Would that be Summerhill School? http://www.summerhillschool.co.uk/

It depends on the culture.
Here only students at Catholic secondary schools, or private schools wear them.

Instead they're forced to buy even more expensive and often poor quality school uniforms.

Eh, I didn't really care about it, either. It's just a uniform.

@suzie1960 I never understood the reason for short pants for boys, other than in warm weather.

@chrisCA There isn't one, it's nothing more than control freakery.

It also means there is no pressure on the kids to have their really expensive fashion items stolen.

And it's easy to do laundry

I very much agree!

@Psycho They're a rip-off because they have to be bought from the school approved supplier.
