Do you feel occupations should be gender specific?

Gotta deal with macho dudes all day... But if they only knew I've been at it quite awhile.🙂

When looking at the average male and female, yes there are some occupations that should be gender specific, many of the average females cannot do jobs that require heavy lifting as they tend to be slight of stature and there are many jobs that the average male cannot do because they tend to be too large. I think a 120 pound woman would have problems with unloading trucks for instance, she would start out ok but by the end of a trailer loaded with 45,000 pounds of dog food she would be tiring and moving much too slowly. Men on the other hand may have issues with a job requiring reaching into small areas as the average man would have larger hands. This does not mean that no woman can do a man's job nor that no man can do a woman's job, just that certain jobs require certain abilities that one gender or the other is inherently more able to fulfill. That being said, if someone is above average and capable of doing the job then they should be judged simply on ability not gender.

@istillhaveanameitsrick I worked on a pipeline for 16 years. I have watched ladies out lift and have much more endurance than a lot of men. I think you are stuck with wrong ideas from the old days. I married a lady who was 5'5" 120lb.s who was our field engineer and she out worked many of the guys and could easily lift over 100lb.s. She still runs 6 miles three times per week at 63 yr. we have been married now 25 years.

Women can do any job a man can do and vice versa. I just have safety issue problems@Trippy
No I believe females can do things just as well as any guy can

Not at all. I have worked with ladies in all kinds of fields. I married one who was our field engineer and she was in working in mud holes 20 ft. deep. Now she teaches construction in our state college.

@acpguy Awesome!!❤️
Nope .. except combat soldiers. That's no place for a woman. Some may not like that, but I said what I said.
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@Stillwaiting That’s fair enough - I was simply illustrating the opposite view on the topic🙂
Trippy · F
@Dlrannie Awesome!!❤️

The only time, in my opinion are combat infantry roles. All else? Nope. If you have the physical strength, skill, and acumen, get it on.
Trippy · F
@Freeranger I've only thrown one knuckle sandwich in my life...haha.

@Trippy Jah! Zee Trippinator......she'll be bok!

No job should be defined as per gender. Every person should work for his or her needs. Btw is that little kid yours?
Trippy · F
@littlepuppywantanewlife Hahaha..I concur. But the little kid was me 🤣
@Trippy at first I thought the same. 😂
GirlSerendipity · 26-30, F
idk anything about welding but totally thinking its a bad idea to do it with 1 hand while holding a kid in the other
Trippy · F
@GirlSerendipity Nothing in terms of the question I asked, but that was my dad. I'm fine, he's passed away.
GirlSerendipity · 26-30, F
@Trippy omg!! so sorry bout that
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
How many male waxers are there?
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
A lot aren’t there. But waxers except for the guy on guy waxers. That doesn’t seem fun at all. @Trippy
acpguy · C
@jackjjackson It is probably guys do not like pain, they are afraid of having the stuff kicked out of themselves if they caused pain and I would call that smart.
Are you going to go to school to become a male waxer? 🤣
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Hell no. @acpguy
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
No, I feel occupations should be gender-neutral.

I feel as if perhaps some should be, but my feeling is that competence should still be the deciding factor. So, I'm undecided about it.
