Is is real or a scam

I found a agency for actors phoned them up the girl said actors can get £800-1200 per film but then she said there’s a fee of £400 I’d need to transfer Iv not done anything Iv done some research they have a website but Iv read that genuine agencies won’t ask for money transfers they only get paid when you do and other sites say there is a fee which is it ?

Yeah that's a classic scam. They charge you a lot of money but they make it sound like just a little by saying you'll get paid even more... and you never do.
@SinlessOnslaught exactly. It's so common it's got a name: advanced fee fraud. And you can find that fraud being played it all kinds of industries: financial services, employment services, even Nigerian princes

@Mattbennet Yeah that's really suspicious. I'm not in the acting business but what you said about them not getting paid until you do, sounds like a more legit method.

@Mattbennet Any one can register a business at Companies House but it doesn’t mean the business is run in a proper and professional manner.
Come to think of it, my niece was stung w/that scam. When I say "stung" I mean she fell for it hook, line and sinker, but because she was only 12, she wasn't able to get together enough scratch to follow through. They took her aside and told her that she was exactly what they were looking for and filled her head w/dreams of the spectacular career she was going to have... she just needed to spring 200$ or so to get it underway--for some reason, they weren't going to make the investment for someone so promising. She tried so hard to convince the family to finance this opportunity, but in the end, they were far too shrewd to fall for it.
Pay me £400 and I'll let you work in my sweat shop...

SCAM! Or at best very poor business practice and if that's their model, I would find someone more scrupulous.
Mattbennet · 51-55, M
@Frank52 I thought as much

that sounds totally legitimate and you should go for it
@SW-User agree
That's a scam. No other business would let you pay to work for them.

Don’t agencies have to be affiliated ?

I would have thought if they were genuine they’d be registered somewhere.

Screen actors guild; BAFTA; something like that ?
Mattbennet · 51-55, M
@Picklebobble2 there on companies house online they have a website but it just sounds dodgy
@Mattbennet a website doesn't mean anything. Anyone can set that up.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Mattbennet Right but neither of them are related to the industry.

Equity ? What’s the actors union in America called ?

The Screen Actors Guild !

Sounds like shite.
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
It’s almost certainly a scam so avoid them
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Scam. Legitimate agencies will never ask for a fee.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Sounds like a scam
It's about as real as a 13$ bill
