What’s worse is when people say “ racism is learned we’re not born racist”

Like no shit pretty much everything is learned
There is a theory that like many other behaviours, looking for groups of similar appearance and other attributes to join is a social function left over from when we were apes. But while we might be born with that instinct, full blown racism is choice people either reject or embody during their life.

@SW-User Yes thats apparently what they are getting at. Something that is encoded in use but also something redundant and not something that has to govern your principles. It’s more applicable to how you identified a friend on your first day of school rather than the bigger issues in the world.

@Mickwnes well I just tried to expose some of mine...

Theres WAY too much blather on this site about racism and religion and why our failures are so bloody self-justified.

Instead of people proving they are BETTER than that.
@Mickwnes and some people are born racists many are here undoubtedly

I wish people would just get real or disappear

I hate it too. Here's the thing. [c=#4C0073]It doesn't have to be learned.
I come from a family full of them and I wasn't brainwashed by their stupid shit. [/c]
You don’t think that’s the truth ? It indicates that if left to their own devices, children see differences but don’t necessarily interpret them as bad unless they’ve picked up cues by others.

@bijouxbroussard I agreed with that part... just not the innate stuff linked to tribalism.
@Kwek00 I don’t agree with that, either. But I know that some people think that, and that was my only point.

@bijouxbroussard Okay, that was it.

Reminds me of when Larry the Cable Guy talked about the "I love my wife" bumper sticker.
