I want justice

The judicial system in the United States is (or rather was) based on the principal that the accused is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law in front of an unbiased jury of his/her peers. Our judicial system in many cases today is broken. It is impossible to seat a truly unbiased jury in this age of 24 hour news coverage and social media. As an example, the Derek Chauvin case, the story has been spread to every corner of the country, the possibility of someone not having already formed an opinion is extremely unlikely. This could be said about so many high profile cases, Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein and many others. I'm not saying any of these people are innocent or guilty, i don't know the answer to that as i try to avoid the media as much as possible but look at what i just said...it proves my point, i TRY to avoid the media but it borders on impossible. I do have an opinion on Chauvin even though i made every effort to avoid the news. I won't tell you what that opinion is because quite frankly it doesn't matter, i'm not on the jury LOL I think we need to go back to keeping the media OUT of the court house and they should not be allowed to report on high profile cases, particularly in a manner that espouses their personal opinions.

I'd like to add one more thing.
That case was approximately 200 miles from me.
All hell broke out in the USA.
60 miles from me a state trooper was shot to death by a person with rap sheet just as long as Floyds.
Never made national news.
Less than 30 miles away an illegal immigrant raped and killed a college girl.

Did you see protest on either of the last two?
Is that justice?
Is that fair to their families?
Sure it is because the dang media will tell you what to think and do.

It is no longer innocent till proven guilty at all.

There is literally a video of Derek Chauvin killing George Floyd. The court wasn't against him because of CNN coverage, they were against him because he killed a dude on video.

I agree about the media trying to push an agenda and spoiling any chance of a jury not being tilted in cases like Cosby and Chauvin. I think we as a society want instant gratification, if it takes more than 10 minutes to figure something out, we as a whole lose interest, whether it is Bill Cosby going to prison for rape or a current spouse, we just want it over so we can go back to Seinfeld.

This is why you have the legal system you do.
There is careful jury vetting and selection. They have a sworn duty to pass judgement based on the evidence presented to them. There are 12 people sitting on that jury and a unanimous verdict is required. They were sequestered so they had no knowledge of what the media was saying during the trial.

There was clearly no doubt, from the evidence provided, that Chauvin was wholly responsible for Floyd's death.

It was the right verdict.
