About 8 years ago I was chatting with someone from China & she told me that they had buffet restaurants in China & that people were getting fat. I kind of shuddered thinking about it since they have such a huge population & how could they sustain an ever-growing appetite. The population of the USA is 330 & China needs to import food for 600 million of it’s citizens. Yikes.

@Dlrannie Most of the buffets have closed or changed the way they’re doing business. Meaning the ones that are open do not allow self-serve so people have to be seated, wait till a waitress comes to their table to “order” what they want on their plates, & wait till they are served. That takes time so the business has really dropped off sharply at buffet restaurants.

China is not a big fan of importing food to feed it’s people.
Last time this happened there was widespread starvation and even cannibalism.

While frequently used as a convenient excuse, money is usually not the issue. China could cancel some debt of any nation that sends them food, but they won’t. They won’t even accept food aid because of pride. Ark my words.

@AthrillatheHunt One thing present Chinese love is food and they will spend any money they have on it , the old stigma from Mao time is gone . CCP will buy all the food they can or they will be gone.

@cherokeepatti at the moment around 60% crops are gone . In worse scenario they may be forced to relocate 400 mill people. Its like a million factories may have to shut down for 1-2 years , supply chains will get broken for years.
