What are you guys doing to do with yourselves in the future? [I Live With Autism]

Listen, as blunt as it sounds, your parents and caregivers aren’t going to be around forever. No they’re NOT! How are you going to take care of yourselves when they die? It’s time to stop depending on them and start doing thinks for yourself. I’m not trying to sound like I’m better than you or to be mean. I’m saying all this because it’s the truth! I don’t care if you have autism or Asperger’s syndrome. I’m going to tell it like it is, even if it hurts. You don’t need mommy and daddy to take care of you! Start doing things for yourself. When they’re gone, what the hell are you going to do?

Keep on living, see how I am health wise when I hit around 50, and decide whether I want to keep on living or not. My wife'll probably talk me into staying alive, but if she's had enough then it's time to go.
@Allelse Good for you. I didn’t mean to sound blunt about what I said but it’s the truth.

You're a couple decades too late on this one. I already lost one parent way back in 2005 and I didn't reconnect with the other until I was an adolescent.
@BlueMetalChick Well I’m very sorry to hear that.

@TotallyValleyGirl I guess at least I'm still healthy and have a good relationship with my dad.
@BlueMetalChick see there you go. Spend time with him because he’s not going to be around forever. He’s not!

They're already dead, so... 🤷
@CrustyDDingus Sorry to hear that

@TotallyValleyGirl this is probably gonna sound a bit morbid, but I kinda accepted their eventual passing at a much younger age, say around 8. Not That that's any easier.
