@EugenieLaBorgia A study in Wisconsin University found that stray cats kill about 1200+ birds per year. I trapped 28 stray cats in my backyard in one year and turned them into the animal control people. if you do the math they would possibly killed 33,600 birds per year. We used to have a lot of birds in our neighborhood and I am hoping they will come back. I have nothing against cats that are kept in the house but far too many idiots allow their cats to roam free. If I lived in country I would shoot the rotten things.

@acpguy I heartily agree with you that many show no normal restraint when they know their actions may lead to the demise of indigenous countryside species...

@pennynoodles I think we all get given roles in life. Some of us are 'go-getters', some of us are 'Dream followers' and some of us are 'carers'.
The first two are fairly single-minded and go after what they want. Usually at the expense of others.
The 'carers' are the ones who tend to feel guilty !
