Well they certainly are not nearly as important as when the world was without internet, smart phones and cable news. @SquirrelGirl I think people who are not engaged in politics much can learn things about both parties and candidates from the conventions. I live in Miami Beach and to be honest I rarely meet people that are very well informed about politics.
