I Have a Crazy Mother

to the point of being physically and psychologically abusive to all her kids
now she is a lonely old widow and for good reason she deserves her loneliness

Ughhh I know that feeling/experience. My mom was rageful, violent, and horrible to me mentally, and sometimes physically. It made me a very 'careful' person now as an adult; to the point that I'm too much so. I retreat, I tend to like being alone more often, and I get nervous about little things. She sucked a LOT of life out of me, and even seemed to 'enjoy' it :/ I'm sorry you also experienced that.

@whowasthatmaskedman I do not need the friendship of humans.
I have also found that many humans will take advantage of kindness and rip you off in some way.
The saying, sometimes your best friend can be your worst enemy is true it so many situations.
Limit friendships, limit hurt.

@whowasthatmaskedman So many people use the quip, No man is an Island.
I say bull to that.
Why rely on other people?
I have learnt to do it my way.
If a problem is complex, I find another way to do it without asking for help.
I manage very well being an island.

It is a sad situation. Many families go through this conundrum. Me included. They say you reap what you sow.
There is a line of thought that forgiveness should be shown by those affected by the abuse. That may be possible if the abuse is not ongoing but subjecting oneself being the brunt of the abuse is extremely detrimental.
Showing forgiveness is in some ways saying, "It did not matter, all those years you abused me"
When it did matter, big time. Why now give them a free pass?
Sometimes it is best to move on and remove the person from our lives.

People like that deserve every second of it. My Dad is on the same path to loneliness
