Eating meat isn't a choice... It's a necessity.

Humans would not be in the position we are now without all the protein rich meat to make us bigger, stronger, faster, and more intelligent than the competition around us.

Had we not eaten meat, we would be in the position of being cows and secondary to some other meat-eating creature.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User No, there are of course other sources of proteins, but few with as much as is in meat.

@SW-User That doesn't seem to take into account the state of ketosis though 🤔

I wonder if any weight gain noticed is actually owing to steroids...

Seriously I am a piece of shit for being like, "that is so sad... I want more veal."

@Razorback I was vegan for two years. It was hard.

Then I woke up from a 10 day coma and all I wanted was a cheeseburger. Never looked back.

@Doomflower go die you dumb bitch

We as human beings are gifted with compassion and the ability to feel the pain and sufferings of other beings.
Besides, we can survive by eating plant based food unlike tigers etc.
DunDunDun · 22-25, F
You dumbasses in the comments justifying animal abuse need to be beaten to death.

Edit: I mean attempting to justify animal abuse.
DunDunDun · 22-25, F
@Quizzical If a person doesn't eat meat, will they die? 🙃
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@DunDunDun No. Though they may need to supplement their diet with another form of high protein food to build and maintain muscle mass.

I'm not honestly sure if there are very many plant based foods that have an equivalent (or superior) protein per gram amount when compared to something like steak.

The thing is, the beauty of being an omnivore is adaptability, but it works best when you have everything in moderation. It's what we have evolved to do.
DunDunDun · 22-25, F
@Quizzical If we don't need animal products to live or be healthy then there's no excuse to cause suffering to animals. End of.
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
Depends on the person's biology, some with auto-immune diseases can only eat meat with supplements. Unfortunately also, we lack the enzymes to convert vitamin A effectively from many sources and cows tend to do that for us, which is why most of our vitamin A that is bio-available comes from other animals.

So it's a bit of both really, if it works for you then good for ya.
I don't do well without meat though personally (tried it).
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Ryannnnnn I'm going to bed in a few so I can't find it right now but there's a million ways to plant farm versus animal agriculture.. which ALWAYS ends up in killing far more forests. Plants can keep the soil from eroding and other good things.

Well you can overdose on animal vitamin A so I don't really worry about it. The plant form is non toxic. It's a question on if you really need "that" much vitamin A vs. how much one really needs and vice versa. I suppose I don't know that question off the top of my head.

I do know that 104 year old vegans would have died a long time ago if that was the case, maybe as a vegan it's in what you eat with other foods and the like? I don't know.

@SatanBurger Greenhouse skyscrapers/towers would be a pretty cool idea, just grow upwards. Though that'd use a lot of energy, could use solar power but I think the issue with it is that we haven't been able to develop batteries large enough to hold an efficient amount yet.
We could do it now but may as well try not to use fossil fuels.

Yeah i'm sure it's very possible, just might be confusing to find out how to restrucure your diet. I think that's the off putting part. Or maybe we're all thinking about it too much.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Ryannnnnn Probably thinking too much about it. When I overthink it, that's when I get stuck. Then again, I know some keywords for easy recipes, I'm sure that others do not. I have a bunch of recipe ebooks that I get off known vegan YouTubers sites that are pretty awesome and cheap. I specifically look for ones that are less ingredients etc.

Or I'll search in google and just make a few recipes each week (2 or 3.) Divide that number to make bulk and throw in a few smoothies here and there and I'm good to go 👍

Slaughterhouse workers have the highest rate of suicide and PTSD. They also are really sick and do sick things to the animals there I hear from other ex slaughterhouse workers.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SatanBurger I'd always heard that was social workers. The suicide rate rather then being sickos
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Quizzical It's slaughterhouse workers but who knows it depends on your source. I do know they have a higher rate of PTSD.
As the “superior” species, we can do better..

So you never played with a basketball, football, soccer ball, or volleyball? You never used bandaids? You have absolutely no leather in your house or car? You don’t know anyone with Diabetes that takes insulin? You never ate a marshmallow or Jello?

I’m not trying to belittle your choice to be a Vegan... But the unfortunate reality is whether you choose to eat it or not... animals will die and continue to die for everyone on this planet, including you.

I would be vegan too if I had the self discipline
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
I love cows [image deleted]I also believe in respecting animals & not abusing etc
But I still think people do have a choice to eat meat & dairy or not. I understand it’s an emotional issue for many tho
SW-User
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit It often works that way in huge industries.
