Eating meat isn't a choice... It's a necessity.

Humans would not be in the position we are now without all the protein rich meat to make us bigger, stronger, faster, and more intelligent than the competition around us.

Had we not eaten meat, we would be in the position of being cows and secondary to some other meat-eating creature.

@Quizzical Eating meat thrice a day is a choice...

@SW-User Well, as with all things, everything in moderation. Being omnivores we do also need fruit and vegetables.

An all-meat diet would be just as harmful as a totally meat-free diet.

@Quizzical Yes, look at the rates of obesity being very high... Our bodies aren’t made to be fat. Over eating meat (+ add sugar and it’s the perfect combo) is causing more damages than anything.
Moderation isn’t something people really understand. When we dare saying we should eat less there will be people being offended and who will whine right away
You are absolutely correct...the human frontal lobe developed from eating meat.

The scale at which humans are producing meat just to survive is the reason I don’t consume it anymore. We have animal production down to a cruel art. Their growth rate has been accelerated for our benefit further the environmental impact and spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria in farms is a growing concern.

There are other methods.✌🏻 @Quizzical

@SW-User I actually believe it's overly processed foods and sedentary lifestyles that has led to the obesity epidemic. Not eating meat. We've eaten meat since, well, since the very start, but it's only recently that we're getting so fat in so many numbers. Meat isn't the problem... If anything the problem is the consumption of 'empty' carbs.

But you're right, people don't like to do moderation and they certainly love to whine, lol

@Texasgurl I do agree wholeheartedly that the 'mass production' of animals for slaughter is a terrible 'soulless' thing. Unfortunately with so many mouths to feed it seems to be a necessary evil.

I'd personally prefer returning to the old ways without huge supermarket chains and factories etc. But I'm afraid you just can't put the genie back in the bottle.
Humans have created their exit plan .@Quizzical

@Quizzical Of course someone who leads a sedentary lifestyle doesn’t need to eat much meat (once again; a choice). We don’t eat meat to survive any longer. We have eaten meat since the very start however prehistoric mankind only ate meat once a while as chasing animals was way harder than finding plants.
It is only today that we started eating meat as much but it used to be a luxury in history.
And yes, study shows eating too much meat is causing obesity. People don’t know how to eat, it’s all. They’ve been taught all the wrong things.

@SW-User I'm afraid I have to disagree... Carbs are far worse than proteins.

Look at the success of low-carb diets. You can eat almost nothing BUT proteins and successfully (and surprisingly easily) lose weight.
SW-User
@Quizzical I’ve already mentioned carbs earlier, it’s sugar and the combo is awful.
By the way, proteins aren’t necessarily meat.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User No, there are of course other sources of proteins, but few with as much as is in meat.

@SW-User That doesn't seem to take into account the state of ketosis though 🤔

I wonder if any weight gain noticed is actually owing to steroids...
