Woukd most peoplr own slaves if they could get away with it?

In some cultures people are still forced in servitude, or making very little where they would be considered enslaved. I came across a Syrian lady who was house sitting for some rich Arabs. They didn't want to pay her and she couldn't leave the house if they were gone sometimes weeks at the time.
Unfortunately people do take advantage of the vulnerable, because they have little to no better options for earning an income.
Similar to sweat shops in Asian countries that manufacture many of our goods.

That’s some BS. There have been plenty of cases where people could have chosen to be slave owners, but didn’t, because they’re not human garbage.

The U.S. fought a civil war over that very issue. After the war ended and the slave states were defeated, the 13th amendment outlawing slavery was passed in 1865.

It's human nature to be loving and compassionate. It's a [i]corruption[/i] of human nature that would lead people to want to own slaves.

I would not, and while there are those who would. I do not believe 'most would.'

If it was normalized like it was back then, then of course people would have them. Like someone mentioned sex slaves are still happening. Which is sad.

I fear that slavery would be just as popular now as it once was... though Covid19 times might see that slaves have much more low quality living quarters than they once did.

Slavery is a horrible thought. I would rather be killed than enslaved and I would sooner kill someone than let them enslave other people.

Most people I know would feel the same way. Corporations are a different matter entirely but I still think the vast majority wouldn't.
