Men = Animals?

Why is it that when making reference to a non-human animal, people are more likely to refer to the animal with masculine pronouns if they don't know the gender of the animal? Do we find male animals cuter or is it just that masculinity is considered more animal-like? Is it both?

No. Its because usually your woman is sitting next to you when you make those comments and you do this so you don't piss her off.

@HotDad Sorry for the wait, I had to do a thorough check to see she's not around before I answer this... Oh hey honey 🤕

I've often wondered that myself. You can use 'it' but that sounds sorta cold. I even knew a guy who would refer to his female dog as a male. 'Come here, boy!'

We do it on the internet too. You know women don't exist here lol.
I have no idea, and I am guilty of this myself.
