Should I keep or cancel my orthopedic doctor appointmnent?

Chronic pain for 14 yrs.
Chiropractor and PT helped very little.
After visiting many quacks, I made an ortho appt on last month.
Ortho appointment is next week.

A few weeks ago, I was referred to an "alternative" type of therapy where they do myofascial release of the tendons and muscles etc that are supposed to be the root cause of the pain.

I'm conflicted as to whether I should only do the alternative therapy I'm doing or go ahead and go to ortho too.

Also, I do not believe the ortho will do anything to help me. It seems traditional doctors/medicine do very little, and that alternative medicine/doctors seems like they really want to heal you.

My insurance covers 6 visits with the alternative therapy. I told the therapist lady that I'd see her monthly. She said they do things differently- they see patients twice a week, and by the 6th visit, your pain will be gone-guaranteed. Her words...

So if she's committed to helping heal me, I definitely want to continue, at least until my 6 visits are up...

Do you think I should also go to the ortho?

Yes...just on the off chance that there is something he or she can do to help. When you are going to a doctor or therapist for chronic pain, you have to check off the boxes for your insurance company.

You go, realizing that if the orthopedic doctor can't help you, there is a remote chance that he or she might recommend more of the alternative therapy. It's not likely...but if he or she recommends more of the alternative therapy, then your insurance might cover more of it.
