So a friend of mine just called me and told me that she lost her father to the virus. Just twelve days before Christmas.

I don't understand those who think that COVID-19 is fake, and even have the audacity to make fun of others who choose to wear a mask to protect themselves or others. I'll tell you what...maybe you ought a loved one to the virus and see how that feels. I am kind of stressed right now so sorry if that's a bit harsh.

I feel your pain and share your frustration. How people can be so ignorant and selfish, to dismiss this pandemic only bc it hasnt effected them directly...yet! Is incomprehensible. I'm sure under any other circumstances, you would never wish that any harm come to anyone, but when I see people refusing to wear a mask in public, and basically thumbing their nose at the harsh reality of Covid19 ? I can't say I haven't thought about Karma , or that veagenful thoughts haven't crossed my mind.

It's hard to say what we can find comfort in these days, but I do hope for the best, and a brighter future for everyone. Together we can get through these trying times, we just have to do it in smaller groups of individuals and 6 feet apart from one another, behind masks, until it's safe to do otherwise.

I wish you and everyone all the best this Christmas season, and of course my condolences to your friend 😔

Well the thing is masks ain't there to protect yourself. You're protecting others. Apparently not something people wanna do
@G00GLE Actually, they help both.

Even people who believe it is real act like idiots. I talk to people all the time who tell me they've lost people to the plague and then go on to tell me about their plans for a big family reunion for the holidays.

@Doomflower what you say is true, another aspect, I'm thinking also of other things and I'm also thinking we shouldn't be discussing it on this post ...

@ozgirl512 good point

@Doomflower @ozgirl512 I think both of you have made some very good points.

When people put politics & ignorance before common sense & health.

I agree. My husband just had it and my son’s friends father passed away on Thursday after a battle since October 28th. I wish everybody would just wear their masks :(

people are inherently selfish

First, I'm sorry for your loss .... And I agree with you, except that still won't change their minds ... No evidence will in some cases

@ozgirl512 Oh yeah, I am in Southeast Michigan so I heard about that story.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@Rose0415 it was a pretty arresting story just from the personal side, plus the simplicity of the telling just bought it home
I know someone that is on the anti-mask/it's all a hoax bandwagon. She's lost her grandfather to the virus and sells expensive masks she makes on etsy. There's just no getting through to some people.

It's stunning the level of ignorance that still exists given the suffering going on.

Very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.
