@SW-User Short story...my grandma emigrated from Germany to escape the Nazis. Grandpa was a Lutheran minister...anyway, they found their way to a remote stretch of the Oregon coast and decided the best thing was to open a Mexican restaurant. I'm not making this up. We eat grandma's chili every Christmas.

@SW-User I think Mexican food must have made quite an impression on your grandfather.

This is a First prize winning recipe...it's huge, because I made it for a contest at work and I wanted everyone to be able to taste some of it.

That's what's IN most of my homemade chili...but sometimes I don't want to fuss and I make simpler versions.

On TOP I used to put cheese, or sour cream. I can't do that anymore...no more dairy for me...but almond milk yogurt is almost as good as sour cream, and Daiya makes fake cheddar cheese that actually melts!

Most of the time I don't put anything on it. But on occasion I will add cheese and onion.

It depends on the day and what we have in the house.

If I鈥檓 doing the slow cooker....
two pounds of ground meat
2 cans diced tomatoes
Can of tomato sauce
2 cans of beans.
Spices.
Green peppers
Onions.

I think that鈥檚 it.

I get more creative if I鈥檓 doing it in a pan.
I love chili馃槩
