@Kuronekko: I have never said we should ban testing. Testing is needed. It's the cruelty involved.

@BigAsset: I understand that, but to boycot everything thats animals tested would be impossible. Also a lot of herbal remedies have nothing to back them up so actually there are problems there, it's a lot of money to be handing over for something with no proof of it working and not much known about who it might or might not be suitable for. Herbal products get banned all the time in the UK, mostly because people are self medicating without enough knowledge of the product and putting themselves in danger in the process.

@Kuronekko: I agree. My point is was : there are a wide range of cosmetic brands available. One can always opt for brands that have a more humane policy towards animal testing. Or opt for traditional herbal ones which are proven. The issue with animal testing with drugs is different. It can be altogether unavoidable. But as a society we should ways push for better and humane treatment of animals as far as we can. I sense we are basically saying the same thing in different ways.

Reality check here. New products are REQUIRED to be tested on animals before they can be tested on humans. Now, before you get mad at me, I HATE animal testing. I would boycott cosmetics companies and others like that who continue to test on animals. We do not NEED new cosmetics. Drugs and medical testing are far iffier. We need these products. Currently the law requires testing on animals. So perhaps we can focus on finding a better way to test new products, so that we don't have to use animals.
@yllacsar: You have no idea what I use or don't use. I just said that we shouldn't be testing new cosmetics. So your being an ass to me is actually counter-productive. Maybe you should figure out what you (and others) are actually saying before attacking. =)
@yllacsar: I am impressed that you managed to figure out that I don't dye my hair or wear makeup, I rescue wild animals, foster for the local animal shelters, as well as volunteer there several days a week, AND that I am married to a pharmaceutical expert with the US Food and Drug Administration. You know, the people who make and enforce the laws and oversee all animal testing... You are good. =)
Anyone as flippant about the products they purchase as you is evil ... How much hair dye and hair products have you rinsed down your drain this year ??? In gallons ?? You ever ask yourself where it goes when you rinse it down your drain ?? Have any idea just how much damage your doing to the water table ??? Ignorant consumers like you make me nauseous.....given the chance i'd puke right on you too...
