I Am Against Animal Cruelty

These companies still use animals for testing. Please avoid using them if you love and care for animals.

everything has been tested on animals at some point

Well don't you just feel MUCH better about yourself then...
SW-User
@yllacsar: the companies claiming that they don't test can only do so because companies before them already did. What's your problem?

In the immortal words of dr hunter s. thompson - "a dollar is like a vote - if you don't use it someone will use it for you"

@yllacsar: Did you somehow read my reply as "I love testing on animals"?
SW-User
@Kuronekko: ultimately that choice is yours. But there are natural healthier products available in the market which can be better for you too.
SW-User
@BigAsset: Thank you, I am aware of that. I think you've both judged me without knowing anything about me tbh.

You sound pretty flippant about it.....and thing is - while you're correct in that testing is and needs be done - the level of cruelty in the testing is what's at issue....the degree of cruelty, and NEEDLESS cruelty is alarmingly high in many corporations for absolutely NO valid reason -
Other than blase' attitudes of consumers like you...
SW-User
@yllacsar: again with the judgements. During my degree we learned a lot about it and my comment was a reflection of one of the things I was taught. I use a lot of natural products and have done plenty of research into it, so save your activist speech for someone who needs it.
SW-User
@Kuronekko: Thanks for posting something intelligent and factual. Somehow people don't seem to realize that animal testing is required in order to get approval for testing on humans.
SW-User
@yllacsar: Maybe you should read up on the laws before you start being an ass. She didn't say anything about wanting to torture animals. She stated a fact.
SW-User
@Laifu1: only in some countries it's mandatory.
SW-User
@Laifu1: thank you for adding a voice of reason.
SW-User
@BigAsset: Yes, but in the US it is. I am a huge animal lover, and the stuff they do makes me sick. Currently regulations state that animals used in testing are required to be euthanized. Why? If you put a cream on an animal, why do you have to kill them?
SW-User
@BigAsset: To avoid animal testing you would have to stay away from medications, chemicals in foods, household cleaners etc etc...it is MUCH harder than you think to avoid these things. By all means buy an organic shampoo made from moss and vinegar..but chances are you need some of the things that are tested and have been tested on animals.
SW-User
@Laifu1: exactly. I have seen innumerable videos of this inhuman behaviour. Many chimps don't ever see the outside world from birth to death. It kills me watching those videos. There's got to be a better way than what we have.
SW-User
@Kuronekko: I agree. But there are things which we genuinely 'need' and then things which are 'feel good' . I would rather buy organic, use traditional herbs if I can. They are better for health too. That's what I would prefer everytime if I have the choice.
SW-User
@BigAsset: medicines are just herbal remedies that have been tested and backed with studies.
SW-User
@BigAsset: sorry, but if a person is sick...one of my kids perhaps..then I will want something that is proven to work and not just some herb with anecdotal evidence. I am pretty sure that with technological advances we can eventually come up with ways to test products without the use of animals..but things must be tested.
SW-User
@Kuronekko: its the chemicals, synthetic drugs etc which are the main problems. Herbal remedies are just fine and no one has a problem with them.
SW-User
@Kuronekko: I have never said we should ban testing. Testing is needed. It's the cruelty involved.
SW-User
@BigAsset: I understand that, but to boycot everything thats animals tested would be impossible. Also a lot of herbal remedies have nothing to back them up so actually there are problems there, it's a lot of money to be handing over for something with no proof of it working and not much known about who it might or might not be suitable for. Herbal products get banned all the time in the UK, mostly because people are self medicating without enough knowledge of the product and putting themselves in danger in the process.
SW-User
@Kuronekko: I agree. My point is was : there are a wide range of cosmetic brands available. One can always opt for brands that have a more humane policy towards animal testing. Or opt for traditional herbal ones which are proven.
The issue with animal testing with drugs is different. It can be altogether unavoidable. But as a society we should ways push for better and humane treatment of animals as far as we can.
I sense we are basically saying the same thing in different ways.
