I Grew Up Poor

when i was young, my neighbours had a piano at home for their daughter, my kindergarten friend living in the same building had a violin. i was really interested but their parents wouldn't let me touch the instrument lest i would damage them. they must have been expensive in those days even though i had no concept of money at that time. throughout my junior and high schools all the girl friends hanging around with me played the piano, and most if not all the girls in the class did actually. they discussed about theory and exams. i was intrigued but could not join their conversation.

after i graduated and having worked for 1 year i had the money and found a digital piano to buy at a sale. i started taking piano lessons 3 years ago, to fulfil my childhood dream, when all those girls who used to play the piano had long dumped the instrument and the skills, and nobody cares and discusses anymore. i m all the way alone, doing things at the wrong time. but i will continue with it. this october i will take my grade 5 practical exam.

I can identify SOOOO much with this story. We wanted to learn but had no means. Now, the younger generation complain that it is hard work to learn the piano and do not want to do it. How times have changed. Go for it, gal! Good luck on your Grade 5 exam!
