I Want to Hear Your Most Painful Life Experience

The worst pain I have ever been in was caused by allergic reaction. Basically it cause a scabby rash formed on the inside of my throat and it was swollen . I couldn’t eat solid food at all and it was too painful to try. For about 1 maybe 2 months I ate only mashed food and a lot of yogurt, ice cream and milk.
Cause I was a little kid I was crying most of the nights and days. After a few days mum dumped me with my Nan cause she couldn’t handle me and a 1 year old.
So for the time I was with Nan.

I’m still going through it. Shingles. That pain can last for months if not years. It’s deep in the nerves too, so medications can only dull it. The first few weeks are a nightmare.

@Peapod My doctor won't give the vaccine to me. He says it's because I am 75 years old.

@greenmountaingal I am really sorry to hear that and I think that is ridiculous since the older we get, the more likely we will have permanent nerve damage. I know I have nerve damage after being 6 months out from it. But I am happy I got the first vaccine and just patiently waiting to get the second one. I never want this again.

When I was 9 years old I had to come home from summer camp because I had developed poison ivy. I was very sensitive to the rhus toxin (poison ivy and poison oak) and I became very painfully sick for weeks. I had the rash over every part of my body including my respiratory system (nose, throat) so I could barely breath. My throat was so bad I could only eat jello. It was a heat wave in New York that summr, the year before they invented refrigerated air conditioning.

@greenmountaingal The modern air conditioner was invented by Willis Carrier in 1902
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@funloving1 But there was no refrigerated air conditioning back then. They had what were called "swamp coolers."

Back when I did gymnastics alot.

I was showing off for some friends and told them I could do a double flip.. I decided to do this outside and not in the proper gym. I didn't land it properly and fell right onto my arm.

Had to go to hospital and was in a cast for weeks.

Pancreatitis felt like a hot pipe was ran through my sternum.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@kyredhead I had pancreatitis and was in the hospital for two weeks with it. Very miserable experience. I am so glad I was able to recover from it fully (had some Chinese herbal treatment that helped).

@SW-User Did your family know? Did they do anything about it? Or did they insist you go right on sitting next to that cousin at holiday dinners like nothing had happened?
The worst pain was when a lawnmower kicked up a sharply pointed rock and it drove into the front of my leg below the knee and was scraping the bone.

That hurt a remarkable lot and it hurt for a week or two.

When my legs have gone sideways, and discovering what people mean when they say "my sciatica is acting up". The nerve pain present with the latter has lasted longer, but it's a toss up.
I am just recovering from the most terrible intestinal food poisoning (or virus) I have ever had. For a few says I didn't think I would survive. The pain was just indescribable.
