I Have Borderline Personality Disorder

"Mental illnesses are just prerogative labels that people hide behind". Do you think this way?

No; I think that while these diagnoses are very real and present, they do not define us and we should not choose to let them define us. We may have certain difficulties and challenges that many others may not have to face, but we are all much more than just a diagnosis. There's so much more to our identities, whether it's liking basketball and other sports or devoting your life to a certain field of study. A diagnosis may present it's own challenges, but we're each way more than a diagnosis.
And I don't mean to discredit or invalidate the reality of the challenges that people face. Mental illness is a real life obstacle for many people in some way, shape or form.
To say that mental illness is just a thing for people to hide behind is unfair and cruel. This idea straight up invalidates the issue of mental illness.
I'm probably rambling, sorry peeps. Just hopped on here after isolating for too long and now I'm lookin for social interaction lmao
