Reasons for anxiety...

1. I have to go pick up a new Internet modem from the cable company (I've put it off for 2 weeks now).
2. I have to disconnect from the Internet.
3. I have to trust the new modem will work when I reconnect everything.

None of these are reasons for anxiety and don't really require doing anything I am not capable of doing. So, why do I feel anxious?

Okay... I'm going to do it... now. Going offline and into communication black-out. The whole thing should take about an hour (to get there, get back, reconnect). If you don't hear from me, you will know I couldn't get the connection to work again... or I was abducted. But, please believe I did my best.

@MarkPaul may the force be with you.

And how about the puppy?

I have anxiety over the littlest things. I think it comes from overthinking. I've noticed that when I sit around and think about things it makes it much worse. However, once I get moving, the anxiety decreases. Hope this helps. I really do know how much it sucks fighting with your mind!

@Justbychance Thank you! Wish I hadn't had first hand experience!
@SW-User Oh and me too; family issues, and such, bring much to bear on many of our lives. I have had my struggles (still do) but getting in control is more than half the battle; I have a lot to be thankful for. Racing mind in the very early days took it's toll, but I got past that more out of logic than anything else.

And yes, moving is most definitely one of the NEEDS of a person with Anxiety.

Thank you also :)

Basic fear of the unforeseen. "What if there's a complication?" "What if the people at the cable company are hateful and mean?" "What if the internet doesn't work for weeks?"

All minute possibilities, but their emotional weight is magnified beyond their likelihood or severity.

@Xuan12 Yeah. That's it mostly.

@MarkPaul Even if those things do happen, you'll be alright. :)
You are simply anxious; no need to worry yourself, but instead consider that if you work yourself up too much you might make one of those 'small' mistakes that may have you wondering what's happening. Breath slowly, look forward to getting back online and go about it slowly. It will be OK ... 😆
You'll still have your phone during the changeover, right?
@MarkPaul Lol, didn't think so. Glad you're okay.

@IAmJess Thanks!

I should start copying and pasting my own replies.

''Because lot of people are assholes.

I would get a puppy"

@Miram 🤔

How did it go?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Miram We have to learn control though. Thanks!
Miram · 31-35, F
@MarkPaul It depends on what that means. The automatic response is to suppress them, end them and people think of that as control. It done nothing good for me.

I just try to watch it pass by and not act on it, violently.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Miram By control, I mean acknowledge them, work through them, and seize back control from them. It's working to a degree for me, but with relapses.
