Y2K was a special year, the computers had not been programmed to accept dates beyond 2000, and there was fear of total collapse at the stroke of midnight. So, I was a work, we were highly computerized and was worried we would shut down, I was carrying a special walkie talkie in case other forms of communication went dead.

I was at the London Eye. That is the night it opened for public use. A street party of sorts. It was amazing.

LOL - it was just my then boyfriend, myself and some hallucinogens. I was afraid to go anywhere and watched the cable news network from pretty much when Australia had their midnight all the way through to when Cali had their midnight.
I hadn't met him yet, but my now husband was actually on a plane to Thailand. He said it was basically empty and the few on the plane had whole rows to themselves to lie down.

Celebrated it just like any other new year...I will say it was fun for just a few seconds letting your brain succumb to the idea that everyone was going to die.

Old people? Jesus. It was great! I partied at Coit Tower in San Francisco and watched the fireworks over the bay.

Spent the night wondering if the lights would stay on. (all the hype about computers not properly handling the 4 digit year code)

Can't really remember though, think we were hoping for the computerised world to crash, but it didn't

I remember the millennium bug and everyone around getting overly pumped for it, it was just another new years party though 😁

Huuuuge party at Jim & Margo's house (well, mansion more or less). Ran until dawn, though we flaked out around 2

I didn't on the grounds it was premature celebration.
The start of the current century was January 1st 2001.
