Is blindly accepting an ideal a good thing?

I would argue no. But for some ideals, criticism of any kind renders them less workable. So to determine if the ideal is worth keeping, you would have to analyze it, and if you analyze it, you destroy it. Kind of a practical paradox there. So I understand the side that would say there are cases where blindly being devoted to something is a good thing, but I would still respond that they can't know that before going through a process of inquiry. It's a variant on the faith-reason thing. I end up siding with reason. If that does destroy some cherished ideal in the process, well, call me a nihilist but I'll live with it.

@Sicarium: The world turns at 23 hours 56 minute and 4 seconds.... The planet looses .004 seconds every 100 years....The blind faith is turning a blind eye to the roughly 4 minutes ... Do the math

@MikefromEP: I'm just gonna go back over there with the semi-sane people...

@Sicarium: Ask yourself this... How is the 24 hour clock based on what science teaches us at 23 hours 56 minutes and 4 seconds...and how we somehow manage to get an extra day every 4 years out of it... I don't have the answer

What does blindly accepting mean? An example.
Blindly accepting anything is rarely wise.
